Raspberry Ice KitchenAid Artisan Design 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM155GBRI

This mixer is very well constructed and operates easily. Bought several accessories which hook up easily. Accessories are not cheep thought. Be warned, product is not light. Would recommend getting a hide away shelf to assist lifting from under counter.
I ummed and ahhed about whether to get this colour, but it has just arrived and it is really lovely. I haven't tested the mixer yet but the colour is more beautifaul than in the pictures. I was expecting a racy hot pink, this is a slightly more sophisticated colour and raspberry is a good description of it, the pearlised shimmer is very subtle, it's not a sparkly finish like I thought it would be, I really like it. I saw one person (who had not seen the mixer) suggest that only a 13 year girl would go for this shade, that comment almost put me off but I am glad I ordered it anyway. If you love pink and want an alternative to the very pale pink that is widely available, this is a great option. The glass bowl is very heavy but comes with a handle, you may need to order an additional metal bowl if lifting heavy things are an issue for you.

Pink KitchenAid Komen Foundation Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer KSM150PSPK

I got my Kitchenaid Stand Mixer for Christmas 2006. I had been wanting the Pink one. So my husband bought it for me online after searching and searching for the Pink color. We found out it was not a color normally carried in the stores.

When I first got to use mine, I made a nice chocolate frosting from the cookbook that is included with the mixer. Since then I have tried making a Red Velvet Cake from scratch and a few store bought mixes. Store bought mixes are probably not the best thing to use the stand mixer for and are probably best used with a hand mixer. But so far it works nice even if the switches are somewhat stiff. Maybe they will losen up in time.

Overall...I am satified and it is a Beautiful focal point of my kitchen.

Pistachio KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM150PSPT

The Kitchen Aid Mixer was a gift for our daughter for Christmas. We had a hard time trying to find the color(Pistachio). My husband had ordered one from another site and at the last minute we were told it wouldn't be available until after Christmas. Fortunately, I received an email from Amazon on that same day offering the availability of this same exact mixer. We had it just in time for Christmas. She loves the mixer. She has been making ice cream with the new ice cream attachment and she has been doing lots of baking.

Having a kitchen aid is like having an assistant in the kitchen! you literally just dump the ingredients in and it does all the work. It's even been great for helping out with big batches of tamales. I love the "Pistachio" color - it matches my retro Jadite stuff.

Majestic Yellow KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM150PSMY

I had been searching and researching these mixers for a couple of months and had hoped to get one for Christmas from the family. But when it came up on my gold box specials, I couldn't resist and bought it myself. Keep checking amazon daily, with my new amazon visa and the deal they offered that day along with free shipping, it was an unbelievable.

Now for the artisan mixer, I received it a couple of days ago and have had wonderful things come from it. I love the tilt head and think the professional ones are way to big for your regular non-pro cook. The artisan fits and looks great under my counter. The cookies have a beautiful texture to them and the mixer mixes them with no problem, quieter than I imagined it could be (family can still hear the TV without turning the volume up). Also my mashed potatoes were heavenly, only had to use 1/2 cup of milk in them, they are so light and fluffy, not heavy or sticky.
My son laughed when he saw I bought the majestic yellow. He knew I always wanted a yellow corvette car. He said, "looks like you settled for a yellow mixer mom". To me, this is the corvette of mixers! Thanks Amazon and Kitchenaid for the great product. Looking to forward to lots of fun cooking and baking in the future. (majestic yellow)

Imperial Gray KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM150PSGR

I received the KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Mixer in Imperial Gray as a gift and it is everything I hoped. I used the mixer to bake hundreds of cupcakes, filling, and buttercream frosting for a wedding and it was always consistent and never failed me over 20+ hours of prep work.

One thing I wish was standard with the mixer was the paddle attachment that has the scraper end on it, rather than the regular paddle that comes in the box. I love that the scraper gets literally everything in the bowl to mix evenly, whereas the regular paddle attachment leaves your mixture on the edges of the bowl and you have to scrape it down manually. For $30 more, the KitchenAid Flex Edge Beater Fits 4.5 Quart and 5 Quart Tilt Head Mixers is really worth it to allow your mixer to perform perfectly on its own. I was lucky enough to receive the attachment as part of the gift, so have always used it with the mixer, which probably accounts for my bias...

In my opinion, if you're going to spend this much on a mixer, buy a KitchenAid. People love them for a reason, so it's worth the money to buy the most reliable everyday mixer on the market.

Empire Red KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM150PSER

Let me count the ways:

1. The price was awesome...I don't know why the white, black, and empire red mixers run $100 less than their rainbow-colored kin, but if you are more interested in performance than matching the color on your tea cozies, this is the way to go.

2. These are the real deal - I've heard about these mixers for so long, coveted one for almost that long, watched countless shows that used them, grew tired of reading paranthetical directions for those of us "mixing by hand" *gasp* in recipes - and all that anticipation might lead to a little let-down in the end. Not so...these things really are great.

3. Bread is baking - I've been inspired to bake bread at home, and freed from much of the labor of doing so....the mixing, kneading time is now hands-free, meaning that baking labor amounts to the fun stuff like forming a loaf and eating the finished product. The mixer is awesome for bread - it excels at single loaf recipes, but can handle a double loaf too, though not as confidently.

4. Hands free is the way to go - it's really the benefit of this mixer over your hand mixers, the ability to walk away while it does it's thing. Pumpkin pie...mix and pour. Cookie dough...mix and scoop. Egg whites...whip to a frenzy, souffle away.

If you like to cook, this will be a great addition to your kitchen...you may feel an embarrassing affection for your new toy, a desire to name it, pamper it, etc....but it's your kitchen, your love for your mixer will be your little secret.

Contour Silver KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers

Let me start off by saying, I have lusted after this appliance for years. My Christmas Spirit was almost doused by the fleeting thought of keeping the Classic version that I bought for my mother on Black Friday years ago. No - I gave it to her and continued to covet.

For years, I relentlessly mixed cookie dough by hand, taking the occasional break when my arms got tired. I carefully kneaded bread doughs with flour-covered fists. I loaded heavy cream into my food processor to make whipped creams for desserts. Life was hard, lonely, and definitely missing something.

I'd drop hints while resting after a good long cookie baking session. I would wipe my brow and comment forlornly, "My life would be better if I had an Empire Red Kitchen Aid stand mixer." People accused me of being dramatic, but I knew that I was right.

Then on my birthday last February, my life was complete. I received a Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer, in Empire Red. The heavens sang out, and the stand mixer-shaped hole in my heart was filled in and spackled over.

I began to bake. Cookies, rugelach, bread, whipped cream. I went even further, using the flat beater to evenly combine ingredients into my meatloaf mixture. I went insane with power, whisking ricotta, eggs, salt, and garlic to be used in a delightfully dense lasagna.

And after each session, I'd loving wipe my 5-quart beauty to a shine, and slide her lovingly against the wall on my counter, where she continues to regally hold court over all of the other appliances.

Kudos, Kitchen Aid. This stand mixer is glorious.

Aqua Sky KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer

I did a lot of research on different brand name mixers. After comparing, I decided on the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer. Once I settled on the model, I had to make sure I got the right color. When I was ready to purchase, the Martha Stewart Blue Collection wasn't available. I was pretty bummed out and ALMOST bought the mixer in Ice. Luckily, Macy's had the Martha Stewart restocked so I snagged one right away. The color is lovely. Glad I got it!

The mixer is great - sturdy, mixes with ease. My hands are free to work on other things! I've had my mixer for about 3 months now and have used it frequently. No problems to report. No matter your color of choice, I recommend the Artisan mixer.

Imperial Black KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSBK

People who have used the KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers, know that they are really one of the most wonderful tools in the kitchen. They make all the things easy. Especially when you make cookies and breads. They are like free hands to mix the ingredients well. This Imperial Black KitchenAid Mixer have the same advantages as other stand mixers. And the black color will never make you think it is dirty. But the surface of this Imperial Black Mixer is rough, the only problem is that you really have to clean it good to get most of the mixers, so takes a little more work to clean it.

Onyx Black KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSOB

There's no doubt that this unit is the very top-of-the-line, the Cadillac of mixers. I own the colbalt blue model, which was a birthday gift from my wife. (Actually, I would have selected a different color but I wasn't about to complain!)

Before you buy one, do you have a place to put it? Mine resides on top of the refrigerator in my small galley-type kitchen. If you have limited counter space, it eats up quite a bit of room if you plan to keep it there. It won't set on top of your microwave oven unless you have a big commercial unit -- it's simply too heavy and might cause problems with the microwave. If it's stored in any spot not protected from dust, then you'll need to buy a cover for it right away. These are available as an accessory but my mother-in-law made one for me and it works great.

I cook from scratch mostly about five out of seven days, I'm retired and my wife still works full-time. She likes to cook (and bake) on weekends. I use the KitchenAid about once every two weeks and my wife uses it with about the same frequency. If she's just doing a little job, she grabs her older hand-held electric blender with the pop-off beaters and that way she doesn't have to get the small stepladder and wield the HEAVY KitchenAid from the top of the fridge. We pretty much reserve it for bigger jobs.

If there's going to be several batches of cookies made or bread dough whipped up, then it's for certain a KitchenAid job. I also make bulk amounts of Italian salad dressing with the Kitchenaid which has to emulsify over a 20-30 minute period -- with the KitchenAid, this is a hands-off process, easy.

I also use a meat grinder attachment for making up four-pound batches of ham salad spread. This attachment is an extra 50 bucks but well-worth it. My brother uses this same attachment plus one other unit to make home-made Italian link sausage and it's well up to that job too.

The KitchenAid is a breeze to clean, with no difficult hideaway places to have to dig dough out of. The dough hook, blender, and whip are just dropped into the dish water and they clean right up, very easy.

This unit will do a great deal more than I'm using it for. Any KitchenAid Mixer will last for years and years, a lifetime I'd say.

So, to finalize, I give the KitchenAid Mixer my highest recommendation:

1. ...so long as you can afford it along with any additional necessary attachments, and,

2. ...so long as you have a convenient place to store it.

Pear KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSPE

Pear KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSPE
If you want to impress your "foodie" friends, all you need to do is have this out on display on your kitchen island. No one will question your aspiration to be a good cook, and then at some point, you have to prove you can use it with fluency and frequency. The KitchenAid KSM150 Artisan Series Stand Mixer is a striking piece of equipment, especially the glossy enamel finish of the empire red model, which is the one I ordered. There are ten speeds with a slide lever on the mixer head. It comes with a five-quart stainless-steel mixing bowl and three mixing attachments - a flat beater, a wire whip, and a dough hook. I've had an opportunity to work with all three on more than one occasion and am more than satisfied with the results.

If there is a standout among the three, it is the dough hook. At the lowest speed, it spirals so thoroughly around the bowl that scraping the sides becomes an almost optional task. The most thrilling aspect is that despite the careful instructions that usually come with bread-making recipes, you can literally put all the ingredients in the bowl, turn the mixer on, and let it work into a cohesive dough with minimal supervision. The wire whip works wonders with egg whites or heavy cream, producing stiff peaks in record time. My one reservation in this regard is using a 325-watt motor for such small tasks and then facing the clean-up afterward. That's probably why I generally reserve usage of this mixer for such tasks to dinner parties or potlucks.

I originally had concerns that the flat beater would be almost too powerful to produce fluffy mashed potatoes, but in using alternating speeds, I was able to produce the desirable results without turning the potatoes into wallpaper paste. One big benefit is the deep well of the bowl, which minimizes the incidence of splattering. The clear plastic pouring shield is another big plus. The easy twist locks keep the mixer stationary throughout your preparation, and the same principles are at work with the attachments. It is a relief that there are no buttons to press, and the attachments stay put until you're ready to dislodge them. Keep in mind that it is a relatively heavy appliance at 23 pounds with the mixer head a bit daunting if you are in a hurry to move ingredients in and out of the bowl. Still, this is classic kitchenware well worth the price if you are ready to show your culinary skills.

Persimmon KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSPN

Prior to getting a KitchenAid for my anniversary, I used a cheap Hamilton Beach hand mixer. I'm not sure how much life that thing has left in her and...well, let's face it...there is NOTHING like the convenience of a stand mixer! Upon opening the box, I quickly inspected everything to make sure it was okay. It was! I wiped down the mixer with a dry cloth and then washed the stainless steel bowl and beaters. Seriously, I thought I was going to be intimidated by the mixer because it is so different then a hand mixer, but it is incredibly easy to use. You use the knob on the right side of the blender to release the head, which enables you to lock the bowl into place and get your beater attached with ease. Then you simply re-lock the head, plug in and mix away!

So far I have made several batches of sugar cookies and royal icing with my mixer. Personally, I like to add the first ingredients (eggs, sugar, butter) before I put the mixer head back down. Once that gets to mixing, I put the plastic "splash" guard up and slowly pour in my dry ingredients. One thing I have found though is that even with the splash guard on the bowl, you will still get dry ingredients "poofed" up onto your mixer if you turn the speed up too high. I think it works best to mix it on a lower speed until most of the flour, confectioners sugar etc are mixed, then turn it up higher. This should reduce the amount of ingredients that splash all over.

Overall, I love this machine! Some people said they had to adjust the screw a bit to get everything mixed on the bottom of the bowl, but I did not have that problem. After using the Artisan Mixer and the Professional Series (with the arms that hold the bowl), I definitely like this one MUCH better! With the Professional KitchenAid, the bowl would pivot some on the "thumbs" that hold the bowl in place on the arms of the machine. That movement made a loud noise in addition to the motor. Also, on the Professional series there are no (to my knowledge) height adjustments to the bowl other than all the way down or all the way up.

Again, I cannot recommend this mixer enough! There are tons of great attachments to get or if you are like me, you will be thrilled with just the stuff it comes with! The KitchenAid Artisan mixer is so easy to use and just as easy to clean up! Also, KitchenAid frequently does mail in rebates where you get money back or additional products for your mixer. So worth it!

P.S. - I just wanted to add that I feel like this mixer takes so much struggle and stress off my shoulders when I cook/bake. I like to use recipes from the Internet and now I can throw ingredients in the mixer and walk away to re-read my recipe. Also...and this is HUGE for me as I have such a small kitchen, no dishwasher and almost no counter space...I can do clean up along the way while I am working because I have time to wash some dishes or pick up while food is mixing.

Silver Metallic KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSSM

As a kid, my mom always had a kitchen aid mixer. She used it for almost every meal. She made a lot of homemade breads and pastas and cookies and the mixer always performed and never broke, not once. So when I got married 4 years ago, I decided that I, too, should have a Kitchen Aid mixer. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond with my 500 wedding gift cards, and I purchased the beautiful Red one. It didn't get much use at first, because I had no idea what to do with it, but as I became more and more aware of food allergies, and had to start making a lot of my own food due to this, I found this baby to be a life saver!

Pros:
- Looks great, so it can sit out on the counter and add decorative value to your kitchen
- Speed settings are great, you can mix dry ingredients slow and slowly crank up the speed once you know you won't send the powder flying
- comes with 3 different mixing tools, one works like a whisk, one is more of a dough hook, and the 3rd works best with thicker batters
- I love the shield that helps reign in any flying bits from higher mixing speeds
- The bowl is a good size and has never been too small for the recipes I've made
- The Locking mechanism is a great idea

Cons:
- I wish they would make a 2nd shield just for protecting from spatter, the one it comes with has holes for adding dough, and doesn't fit all the way around, so I still get spatter sometimes which is a pain to clean
- It's a bit heavy when you need to move it

Overall, I am really really happy with this mixer. I have never encountered a better one than Kitchen Aid. They seem to have a leg up on the market. Yes, it's a bit pricey, and if you don't bake much, I don't think you should get it. But if you do, it's worth how much easier it makes your life.

White on White KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSWW

This Artisan KitchenAid stand mixer replaces an older, less powerful (250 watts) KitchenAid that I bought twenty-two years ago and that finally was beginning to show its age. Like most serious cooks, I can't imagine cooking or baking without a KitchenAid.

So what's so great about this mixer? Well, for starters, it handles all mixing jobs, from small to large, from delicate to tough. The orbital mixing action ensures that ingredients are mixed efficiently, in less time than required by hand mixers. Read the instructions for correct speeds because recipes that say "beat at medium speed" do not refer to this mixer's mid-range; "four" is the medium setting out of ten. Users should also read the instruction for any attachments they may be using since they aren't intuitive. For example, my new ice cream attachment needs to be set at the lowest setting ("stir") instead of the "six" I expected.

The brand is known for its durability, reliability, and versatility. Any appliance that lasts for over twenty years with only minimal signs of age offers real value. The motor on my old mixer was tough -- and I expect this one to be even tougher given the power. I have never taxed the motor enough to engage a shut down -- and this comes from someone who has burned out no less than three handheld mixer motors.

Besides the extra power, the Artisan seems pretty much the same as my old one except for a slightly heavier weight mixing bowl and a sturdier whisk attachment. My old attachments and extra bowls/paddles fit the new machine.

When people walk into my kitchen and see my mixer on the counter, they often say, "You must be a good cook!" That's because the KitchenAid mixer has become the hallmark of a gourmet cook. If you consider yourself in this category or want to buy a gift for a gourmet, look no further.

Yellow Pepper KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSYP

This mixer truly does live up to it's reputation. It is well made and works like a dream. I loved the clover leaf roll recipe in the included recipe book...

As for the color, the options are there if you want to pay more, but if plain old white is good enough for Paula Deen, Giada Delaurentis and Ina Garten, then I'd say I'm in good company because white will never go out of style...it's a classic mixer color and this mixer is so well made it will probably outlast the many kitchen decorating fads bound to change in the years to come.

I have wanted one of these mixers for several years, but couldn't justify the purchase until my tired old Sunbeam broke. I can tell you that the quality and workmanship is there and I am thrilled with this powerful, sturdy mixer. For home use, I don't think you could ask for anything more. I was considering a larger one that I saw at a warehouse retailer for $60.00 more, but it was so tall that it wouldn't fit on the counter under my cabinets. After using this workhorse of a mixer, I'm convinced that it is absolutely the perfect size for my needs... I don't know if I would ever want a larger mixer because this thing has confidently handled large batches of everything that I wanted to make for my large family without skipping a beat and without hogging tons of counter space.

As for Amazon, their service was exemplary. I opted for their free Super Saver shipping and still had my new mixer within 2 days of placing my order. I can really get behind a company that under-promises and over- delivers. I haven't seen a deal like Amazon offers on this model anywhere and I have looked for a long time. The nearest thing would be a refurbished model and it was still more expensive and that was before the rebate!! I don't know how they can offer this deal, but I'm thankful that they did. In any case, although it sounds too good to be true, this definitely is the real thing. If you are looking for a KitchenAid, snap this one up before they come to their senses and raise the price!!!

Pistachio KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSPI

I bought this for myself last Christmas, and, as all of the other reviews have already stated, it is one of the most well crafted, reliable (beautiful!) and useful appliances a baker will ever have.

That said, when considering whether or not to purchase it, I would really think about how much of a baker you are. If you tend to make cookies once a year using a mix, I wouldn't bother.

If, on the other hand, you like to bake often, and sometimes knead dough, whip cream, make merengues, etc. Then this is exactly what you're looking for. I had been getting by with a hand mixer for twenty years, and I'd been doing just fine, but boy do the eggs fluff up better and the sugar and butter cream together when you've got a Kitchen Aid on your counter. You don't have to stand there and hold the mixer for one thing, which frees your hands up for measuring, putting away ingredients, etc. It's great.

One thing I would also consider, is how much and how often you make bread. If you tend to make many loaves rather often, the Professional line (rather than the Artisan line here) would be a better choice. Really though, the majority of home bakers don't need that extra power, and they certainly don't need to spend the extra money.

Basically, if you like to bake a variety of things, and you aren't (yet) a professional, this is the best tool for the job.

Caviar KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSCV

It's not just the creme de la creme of mixers, it's the only one you should ever own. If you're new to Kitchenaid, I know what you're thinking. "Gee, this is a really expensive mixer! Why would I want to pay this much when I can easily get one of a hundred other brand mixers for 50 bucks?" It's simple -- there is a reason why in every movie or television show containing a kitchen scene, you'll see a KitchenAid mixer somewhere. It's not just slick product placement.

It's the simple fact that there is nothing, and I mean NO OTHER MIXER that even comes close to being of the quality and durability that even the most CASUAL user would need! For example: I discovered baking when I was 8 years old and would haul my mother's mixer out of the bottom cabinent on a regular basis to make some increasingly devine concoxion.

This passion for baking continued the 10 additional years I lived at home. During that time, we went through three mixers (motors burnt out) and more than a dozen new pairs of beaters (a real pain to order). For the price of all of this, we could have easily bought a KitchenAid, which I did -- as my first kitchen item in my 1st apartment at 18. Now I'm 28, a KitchenAid owner for 10 years, and still on my original mixer and beaters! [grin]

And . . . did I mention it mixes better and more thourough and it's easier to clean? Yep! What more could you want?PS, my grandmother willed me the one she owned for more than 40 years so now I have a black one and a white one. Both, I'm sure will last long enough to put in my own will.

Buttercup KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSBF

My sister asked me to go halves with her to buy our mother this mixer. Mom makes lots of homemade candy as Christmas gifts and she has always used a Mixmaster. They are good mixers, but we decided to get a mixer with a more powerful motor as Mom eventually burns hers up, so we chose the KitchenAid. Keep checking Amazon.com for a sale price on the common colors. They were on sale on Sunday, then back up to the full price Mon. through Sat., then on sale again the next Sunday.

I waited for the sale when the price of the Artisan was marked down $52, it had a rebate, and a free 3-quart bowl offer, AND free shipping. The fact that it has a 325-watt motor was the real selling point. Now Mom is hard to please, and I was holding my breath until it arrived, thinking she would not like the fact it has a single beater. I thought she would reject it because she has always used two-beater mixers. Not so. She is thrilled with this mixer. The dual-action wide metal beater is 100% effective for mixing along the sides and the bottom of the bowl.

The whisk is just what she needs for beating egg whites for her candy. The motor is very powerful and I doubt she will ever use speeds 9 or 10. The bowls lock into place and she won't hesitate to leave the mixer running while doing other kitchen duties. It's so heavy it won't vibrate off the countertop. The reviewer from CT must have written his review on the wrong page. This Artisan mixer has the tilt-back head, another of Mom's must-haves. It is the KitchenAid Professional mixer which has the stationary head and the bowl that moves up and down.

I don't think we will hear a single complaint from my mother, my sister and I are thrilled with the sale price, rebate, free bowl, and free shipping, and I just can't wait until they go on sale again to order one for myself. I want a red one.

Blue Willow KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers KSM150PSBW

I own a KA Artisan Series 5-Qt. Stand Mixer in "Blue Willow." I am a casual baker and am relatively new in the kitchen and prior to making this purchase, I did quite a bit of research on stand mixers. I found that the questions you have to ask yourself prior to making this purchase are:
(1) Do you really need one, and, if the answer is yes, then;
(2) Is this a one-time purchase, and;
(3) Which stand mixer actually *fits* your needs?
Though I was tempted to get a big 6-Qt professional, bowl-lifting, super cool mixer, I realized that I generally cook for two people and that I would not need to ever really mix 14-cups of flour or 8 pounds of potatoes. Even if I did, I'd be doing it in smaller batches anyway. So that brought me back to my senses and I considered the KA Artisan.

Comparatively:
Oddly, it only has 325 watts of power. Other stand mixers of this size offer up to 500 watts; the KA 6 Qt. Pro offers 525 watts and a bowl "lift" function. I don't know if this makes a huge difference, but my KA stands up to whatever I put in it. I use it to make mostly cookie and bread doughs. It comes with three accessories: flat beater, dough hook, and wire whip. The flat beater is very versatile and I have really appreciated not having to wrestle with my crappy hand-mixer when mixing things like softened cream cheese. I can throw it all into the bowl at once and walk away to start something else.

Cleanup:
It's a snap. While I tend to still get flour all over "The Fuselage," as I call my mixer, it wipes off in a jiffy because of the sleek exterior. I don't find the "chute" of the pouring shield especially "easy" to add ingredients, especially when it's flour from a big mixing bowl. The chute is not quite wide enough and flour tends to spill, so sometimes I don't use it, but this creates "splash-up" instead, so it's kind of a no-win situation. The steel bowl is absolutely smooth and so there are no real ridges inside the bowl for anything to stick to. The accessories twist off in a one-handed motion, are very secure and heavy, and are coated with a slick, non-stick, white finish - washing up is absolutely easy.

Counter Space:
You cannot put this away, or you will never get it out again. So for small apartment dwellers, you must think about your counterspace. I am a pretty small female, and to me, is HEAVY, HEAVY, HEAVY. While this is good because it doesn't wobble or "walk" across the countertop when it's mixing, this also makes it a gigantic pain to drag it out. So anticipate that it will take up about 1 cubic foot of your countertop forever and that you should have it somewhere where you don't have to move it.

Mixing:
It is very, very thorough. It has some weird "planetary mixing action," but whatever that means, it mixes mostly everything evenly. Turn it off before you stick your spatula in. It handles the stickiest focaccia dough to meringue perfectly, and the bowl "locks in" to the base, so you don't have to worry about it flying off.

Attachments:
These are super pricey in most cases, but the one that seems to draw the most raves is the pasta cutter (apprx. $100). KA constantly has deals and sometimes has nice packaged deals on their website, so check there as well. I have seen KA offer different accessories (including this one) for free on rebate, so watch for those. KA also is constantly flogging "The Mixer Bible" by Meredith Deeds and on their website, they sometimes have an ask-and-answer with the author. I do recommend getting a stand-mixer cover, or if you want to make one, there are several patterns available on the internet. I'm lazy and cheap, so I use a big dishrag and that has worked so far.

Overall, I'm glad I made the purchase. When I do use "the Fuselage" for baking jobs, it performs flawlessly and makes the baking much, much easier - you can get a good look at your dough consistency, etc. instead of worrying about if your frosting has unmixed chunks in it, or if your hand mixer is going to tip your entire bowl of pudding over while you run to get some missed ingredient. By proxy, its ease of use turns you into a better cook in the end. More relaxed, anyway, and if that's worth a couple hundred dollars to you, then by all means, buy it.

Gloss Cinnamon KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM150PSGC

I got this mixer about a month ago. I've wanted one for years, but always talked myself out of it (too expensive, too big, etc.) After finding a great deal here on Amazon, I finally caved in and let me say, I'm glad I did. I love this mixer! I was worried I wouldn't use it very much, since I already have a very nice bread machine (a "Zo"). I find that I'm using it all the time though. It really is like having an extra pair of hands in the kitchen. Cookie dough is so much easier.

I'm also making bread with it constantly. It's just so simple to throw the ingredients in the mixer and let it do all the kneading. I've been making fresh bread and bagels every week and it's been no hassle. It handles the dough very well and stays put. It's a big heavy machine. The only problem I was having with it was I was finding it very difficult to remove the bowl to clean it after I was done mixing something. My husband suggested rubbing some vaseline on the bottom edge and that has solved the problem completely.

Now I can pop the bowl off with one hand. Anyway, if you've been wanting one of these and if you like to bake at all, do youself a favor and get one. You will be amazed at how much easier it will make your life. I only wish I'd gotten one years ago!
