My husband and I decided to purchase this small washing machine after years of patronizing the local laundromat. Although we're still cool sharing the machines with the local park bums for heavy items like jeans, bed linen and bath towels, we felt the clothes of our newborn baby could use a more exclusive treatment. There's no hook-up in our city apartment, and no much space either to install a washing machine. We were thrilled to discover this Haier product. Not that vendors provide you with a dazzling number of options, mind you--which I find mind-blowing, BTW, especially compared to the European market; it's not like NO ONE in the U.S. lives in crammed city dwellings or in hook-up-less flats; but that's another conversation, I suppose.
Anyway, after reading all the reviews, we figured that if the machine we'd receive was faulty, we'd find out very quickly (Haier seemingly has a significant quality-control issue); we also learnt there was nothing to expect from Haier's customer service. So we decided to purchase our machine from a vendor with a brick-and-mortar location (Home Depot) so that we could simply return the faulty machine physically before the return policy expires... then order a new one.
Thankfully, there was no need for that. Our machine left the factory flawless--lucky us. As expressed by many reviewers before me, this device is a dream-come-true. It's been used once a day on average for the past 3 months and is still going strong. Once, the hose that connects to the faucet leaked. Extending it to the sink and back had loosen it up. All it took to fix it was to tighten it--that was 2 months ago.
In a nutshell:
This machine is a simple computer that only lets you choose the level of water and the length of the cycle (3 options). However, because it is hooked to your faucet, YOU choose the water temperature.
Because you can pause, switch, select Wash, Rinse, Spin at will, you can create your cycles at whim: skip Spin for your delicates (a good idea given how powerful this small machine's spinning capability is--leaves your clothes quasi-dry!); repeat Wash for a more heavily soiled load; repeat Rinse if you put too much soap. Sure, that requires you to be around and pay attention while the machine runs, but I find it a very small price to pay for the benefit of washing clothes at home.
We use this machine for baby clothes, but also for our underwear, shirts, T-shirts and other relatively light items. It's definitely one of the best investments we've ever made.
Without a doubt, the best purchase under $200 I've ever made. This thing is wonderful. I live in an apartment that doesnt allow a washer and dryer. This rolls easily in and out of the closet. Dont be fooled by the size of this machine. Its the size of a hamper but fits alot of clothes. A usual load for me is about 6 shirts and a pair of jeans, which is plenty for one person. Quick wash is a great feature and after the spin cycle clothes are barely even damp. Ive been able to wash king size sheets without a problem which was a surprise. Great washer.
I have had my Haier HLP21N washer for over a month now and I don't understand the negative reviews that were left. No, I haven't had a problem with "lint" transfer from white clothes to coloreds.
I don't understand any of that. I have washed several loads, both white with bleach and coloreds
including several pairs of Levi jeans. This is a durable, easy to use and quick little machine. The only thing I have to say about lint is: get one of those wire mesh drain strainers, that's where the lint goes and if you don't use one you'll have a clogged drain. That's just common sense though. This is a great little washing machine. The adapter fits both my kitchen and my bathroom faucet and It is completely tight, no water leakage or spray whatsoever. Best of all, my clothes come out way cleaner in this machine than in the former Maytag I used for several years!
I've had this for more than a year now and it has been working perfectly the whole time. Sometimes it gets a little bogged down with a heavy load, but once you get the hang of sorting out appropriate loads, it's a piece of cake. This has saved me SO much time and money. And it fits perfectly in my small apartment. Highly recommend this product!
My living space is on the top floor and the laundry area is down 2 winding flights of stairs. Someone suggested that if I could do laundry without having it pile up, my life would be easier. So now, this is the first week I have had this installed. Admittedly, I never have overly high expectations of machinery, but I am more than happy with this.
The instructions for the washer are fairly detailed. I ran into trouble over the sink hook-up, just because I did not understand standard terminology. When a friend came in to help, it took him all of 15 minutes (or less). Everything was tightened with a wrench, plus he tied the two hoses (in and out) with a fastener to position them securely.
A very decent little washing machine. It works pretty much exactly as described, you just have to make sure that it is completely level and balanced each time which can be a bit of a hassle but no big deal. It does do quite small loads of clothes but it just means that you have to do a couple more. All in all, I would recommend this unit.
