Empire Red KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer KV25GOXER

Empire Red KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer
I decided to replace my K5A that has been in continuous use for 35 or more years. It is like an old friend and I reluctantly gave it up. This mixer has more power and is quieter than the old one. No strikes so far, it has been what I expected (but I judge good service in years, not weeks).
I also purchased the pouring shield , which (as far as I am concerned) is just about useless (Flimsy, cheap, and more bother than help).
I have been very impressed with the deliveries of all my purchases at Amazon, they have been very fast, AND free.
I like Amazon, but it is not the only place I shop.. just the first.

Blue Willow KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer KV25G0XBW

Blue Willow KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer KV25G0XBW
The Blue Willow KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer KV25G0XBW is my new mixer.I have loved KitchenAid all my life. Growing up as the daughter of a caterer, we had a beautiful classic white mixer.

The new color line is fantastic - the Blue Willow amazing! Even more beautiful in color than in the pictures. Very close to the Amazon blue. The Professional Series is bigger than the traditional KitchenAids, so if you're not that into baking, you probably could go for the standard series.

As always, KitchenAid is reliable, durable, and functional.

Metallic Chrome KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer KV25GOXMC

Metallic Chrome KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer KV25GOXMC
I'd never had a stand mixer before and I was a little afraid that this model (Professional 5+) was "a little too much" for a first timer: not at all! I love to bake bread and make pizza and it's so easy now. As a previous reviewer said, I feel guilty the day I don't use it. It amazes me when preparing the bread dough how everything gets mixed without my intervention...its a test for one's patience watching all that flour getting sticked to the bowl and apparentely not blending. At the end the dough itself scratches the bowl leaving it almost clean.

This is a big appliance and you have to select a place in your kitchen that is going to be dedicated to this machine. Forget about storing it and taking it out only when you're going to use it; it's big and heavy. But it looks so nice that I really like to have it on display.

Cobalt Blue KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer KV25GOXBU

Cobalt Blue KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer KV25GOXBU
I received this mixer as a gift, and honestly, it is so great that I almost feel guilty I don't use it every day. I have heard good things about the reliability of Kitchen Aid mixers, and this one is far more powerful than what I actually need it to do.

One especially great thing is the slow-start feature--I do a lot of cake batter and icings, and it's nice to avoid getting flour all over the cabinets after each round of mixing. It mixes very thoroughly, although I was initially suspicious since the bowl doesn't rotate. You do have to stop and scrape the bowl, as with any mixer.

The machine is also incredibly quiet--it makes less noise than the microwave does. I like the fact that the bowl and white attachments are dishwasher safe, too. It might seem trivial, but I also like the styling of the wider bowl that comes standard with this model, instead of the narrower one that comes with the Artisan.

At first I thought the bowl-lift thing might be uncomfortable to use, since I'm used to tilt-head stand mixers. The bowl has two tabs with holes that fit on either side of the mixer, plus a metal nub that rests in a slot at the back. Once those three points are secure, you rotate the lever to lift the bowl to mixing position, and it's very stable.

I've only found two minor inconveniences with this machine. First, it's pretty tall, so it won't fit on the counter underneath my cabinets--I have to move it back and forth from another shelf to use it, and it's heavy. Second, when you're done mixing and lower the bowl, it's hard to scrape all the stuff off the beater because you can't get a good angle. So you have to detach the beater and let it fall into the bowl and when the bowl is off the mixer you can scrape everything out. Thinner stuff like cake batter wouldn't be a problem, but for frosting or mashed potatoes, a lot of stuff is left on the beater. This is not a big deal--just a different thing to get used to after a tilt-head mixer.

I have the cobalt blue model, and I hesitated because I thought it might be too "loud," but it's beautiful and I'm so glad I got this one.

I'm not a professional baker, but I use my mixer frequently, and I'm delighted to have something that looks great and works so well.

White KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus 5-Quart Stand Mixer KV25G0XWH

After waiting too many years, I am so very happy that we decided to purchase this professional quality 500 Series Kitchen Aid Professional 5 Plus 5-Qt stand mixer. I have admired K/A Mixers forever and have recently been drooling over all the colors the Artisans come in. After much research and reading MANY product reviews from various sources, I decided on this well built, Bowl-Lift Mixer with 450 HP, and Professional Transmission. I couldn't be more delighted and satisfied with it! I was going to get a 600 series, but the height was prohibitive for my counter-space clearance so I chose the next size down. I absolutely LOVE it. It doesn't come in as many colors as the Artisan, but I decided on White on White anyway, as all my other appliances are White and it will always match. I have some mobility issues so my cooking chores are often difficult for me. This mixer is so powerful and FAST it is cutting down my work time significantly! The bowl and beaters are easy to clean, even by hand they are a breeze. So far I have made Cheese Balls, Pizza Dough, Mashed Potatoes and Strata- all with great ease! It is literally saving my arms from using a hand mixer as I have been doing for years. I wondered IF I could manage since it is so large, but it is NOT a problem for me.
Even if all I did was look at it, I'd be happy to have it after all these years, but using it pure JOY!

*I'd like to make an important NOTE HERE in hopes of saving another shopper the ERROR I made regarding the POURING SHIELD ATTACHMENT which did not come included with my Mixer..
The Amazon Information was NOT CORRECT in describing the Pouring Shield # KPS2CL as fitting ALL K/A 4 1/2 & 5 Qt Stand mixers. It does NOT fit this 500 Plus Model- it's about 6/10s of an inch too small and just falls into the bowl! It DOES FIT the 5 Qt Artisan perfectly and I was happy to give it to a relative who could use it.

THE CORRECT POURING SHIELD for this 500 Plus Mixer is # KN256PS.
I confirmed this with Kitchen Aid Customer Service before ordering from Amazon, as Kitchen Aid has recently changed the part Number from the one listed in the "Attachment Booklet" that came with my Mixer. I am happy to report that indeed it does fit perfectly! The Amazon Product description for "Kitchen Aid Pouring Shield with Wide Chute" has the correct item number and that's the one I ordered.

I also ordered the K/A Cloth Mixer Cover too, which also fits just fine, but I sort of hate to have it covered as I enjoy seeing it...

In spite of the little mix-up with the Pouring Shields, I remain a satisfied Amazon Customer over several years now. I'm not letting that little blurp rob my absolute JOY in having my long desired Kitchen Aid Mixer and fun of discovering how helpful it really is! I am doubly happy that is is MADE in the USA!! Enjoy! Thank You!

Steel Blue KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer

My mother purchased this mixer for me in almond, and at first I felt sick that she would spend this kind of money on a mixer! But boy am I glad she did! I wish I had this 25 years ago! Mixing up the most stiff doughs are effortless. Mixing meatloaves and meatballs are a breeze. I love the texture of the meatballs that I have mixed in this mixer and do 5 pounds at a time and cook and freeze them. Why? Because since I have this fantasic kitchen tool I can loads of sauce from the garden. The attachments are the best part of this deal. I do about 50 quarts of homemade spaghetti sauce from our garden and the combination of the vegetable strainer and grinder does all the work. I then use the mixer to make the meatballs. We can have a real homemade Italian dinner any night of the week with no more work than it would take to warm up a can of soup! My husband (who is Italian) loves it! I use these attachments to make fantastic salsa, homemade ketchup, and the absolute best tomato juice you have ever tasted. My husband just tripled the size of our garden this year, all because of this mixer. It sounds like alot of work, and I would have never believed I could get into canning, but once you have a taste of home made, and realize how much better it is (and how much easier these tools make it), you just can't get enough. My 30 year old daughter who I would have bet my life would never can, had to have a mixer and attachments so she could do twice the amount of canning I do!

The only think you should know is that the 6 quart is very tall and may not fit under alot of cupboards. Mine does not, but I had an open spot with no cabinets overhead and I can show it off there. And believe me, you WILL want to show it off!

Red Cayenne KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer KP26M1XRC

This KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer,Red Cayenne, Very powerful with heavy mixes and still remains quiet and undisturbing to the rest of the house even allowing easy non shouting conversations during get to gethers and home-made pizza night. The 6qt bowl will still mix small batches so don't think it's too big for everyday use.

Red Cayenne color is much more durable and appealing over the Red (the pictures don't do it justice). And at amazon prices you really don't need to shop elsewhere...trust me I wasted alot of time trying. Like amazon, like this Red Cayenne stand mixer.

Onyx Black KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer KP26M1XOB

I just got my Kitchen Aid 6 Quart Pro Mixer and so far after making my first loaves of bread I really like it. A friend of mine has one just like it but is older. She said one of the things to keep it from over heating is to never take the dough hook out and scrape the bowl. She does not drop the bowl and leaves the hook alone and scrapes the bowl.

There was a Mail in rebate of $40.00. My wife who is a retired Post Master was making up the envelope and noticed that the zip code was not long enough and the city was El Pass Texas after calling the 800 number we were informed that it should have been El Paso and the correct zip is 88570-1816 NOT 8875-1816. If she had not been the person to fill it out I do not think I would have caught the error. Which might have made me ineligible for the rebate time wise.

As I use the mixer I will update my review.KitchenAid KP26M1XOB Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Onyx Black

I made a four loaf batch 14 cups of flour and had no problems it was not overly noisy and did not vibrate on the counter also the motor was not even warm. I kept the speed on two as recommended and never dropped the bowl to scrape.

Meringue KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer KP26M1XMR

I have never owned a stand mixer before, but I knew I wanted to use it to make larger amounts of bread dough than my bread maker can handle. I chose the Pro 600 after reading all the reviews that said you'll need the increased wattage to handle dough.

First of all, make sure you have enough headroom wherever you want to keep it - you'll need at least 17" under the cabinet to be able to use it in place. This may be important for many people as this mixer is bulky and heavy to move - over 30 lbs. But since it has the bowl lift feature, the head does not tilt back so you don't need extra clearance - 17" will work fine.

The first thing I used it for was an angel food cake and I have to say, the results were amazing. Using the wire whip, the egg whites whipped up higher than I have ever achieved with my hand mixer and in half the time! The cake was much higher and fluffier, too. The plastic bowl collar makes it easy to add ingredients during the mixing process without making a mess.

Next, I made a double recipe of yeast rolls. I used the spiral dough attachment and, as directed, never went above speed setting 2. It performed very well and my rolls were perfect. I referred to the tips in the owners manual for fast rise yeast breads. The machine didn't seem to strain or struggle and the resulting dough was lovely.

I also made 15 lbs. of mashed potatoes. Following the recipe and directions in the manual, the potatoes were very good. I made them in 2 batches, first using the flat beater attachment and then switching to the wire whip. It seemed like a lot of work and switching when I read the directions but actually, it is quite easy and quick to stop the machine for a moment to scrape down the sides of the bowl or change attachments. Also, the included clear plastic collar keeps things from flying up and out of the mixer when working with large batches. No more mashed potatoes across the front of my shirt!

The bowl lift mechanism works smoothly and easily and is very convenient. The 6 qt. bowl has a well designed handle and is thick, sturdy stainless steel. I love the slow start feature! The mixer starts slowly before coming up to speed so you don't get the big cloud of flour bursting up at the beginning of making dough. I got the meringue color, which is a soft white that is a matte, powder coated finish. I took mine in the back of my van to the relatives for Thanksgiving, where it got banged and bumped, and the finish suffered no damage.

The 3 included attachments are heavy aluminum and KitchenAid recommends hand washing them. The bowl is dishwasher safe. I haven't purchased any additional attachments but I plan to, along with an extra bowl, which I think would be very handy during the holidays.

Green Apple KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer

I was trucking through the mall at Christmas and was overcome with desire for this fancy, schmancy Kitchen Aid. It was everything my wonderful 30+ year old Kitchen Aid was but better. Larger capacity, a more powerful motor, bread hooks, a whisk beater, and a free meat grinding attachment. I loved the color if you can call a silver finish a color. It looks great in my stainless steel kitchen, fits nicely in a corner on the countertop.
Aside from the aesthetics, it does a great job on large batches of bread. It takes most of the hard work out of bread making; it kneads and I don't. While I think a lot of people use this for cake batters, etc. and I certainly use it for that, I use this for a lot of things that aren't typical. I make my own sausage such as chicken, fennel, and apple that is not only healthier but fresher. I use it to mix a variety of meatloafs. I use it for souffles that are mile high and light. It's great for anything that needs to be beaten, blended, or whipped.
I purchased a splatter shield, a whisk, and a large stainless bowl with a handle for use with this mixer. Since I already own an ice cream maker that I like I am probably not going to buy the ice cream attachment.
This mixer is easy to clean and maintain and too attractive to hide in the pantry. It works as well as my old Kitchen Aid with the exception that it has a larger capacity, more robust motor, and a lot of attachments that makes it a multi purpose kitchen accessory.
So far, after four months of consistent use I have not encountered any negatives. As an FYI, a family member has inherited my old Kitchenaid Mixer and it is still performing like the champ it is.

Empire Red KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer KP26M1XER

We bought this 6-Quart KitchenAid Professional 600 series mixer in Empire Red (in addition we bought the cover as well) for the main purpose of mixing dough with the spiral dough utensil, which is included.
My family and I spent spent a considerable time comparing the Cuisinart 7-Quart Mixer Cuisinart SM-70BC 7-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Brushed Chrome with the KitchenAid mixer before making our purchase.
The Cuisinart Mixer had a larger bowl, more wattage, sale price was less than the KitchenAid.
We watched numerous demo videos on both on Amazon and YouTube.
For us, the KitchenAid's selling point was the lift-up handle that picked and locked the bowl into place. I have many years worth of experience working with a restaurant-grade dough mixer (Usually mixing nearly 20 pounds of dough at a time), so the videos demonstrated the mixer's sturdiness.
Although the Cuisinart's mixer appeared equally sturdy, we were nervous about the constant over-use of the hinge of the machine that requires completely torquing up and out the machine and the wires inside in order to remove the bowl (You should watch the videos to see what I mean).
So far I have limited myself to making up to 6-8 cups of flour into dough at a time. Only thing to point out: When mixing dough, I would recommend standing by the dough mix and adding water into the bowl in areas that needs to be wet, instead of dumping all the water in the beginning. By doing so I cut down the time the utensil is able to work the water into dry dough, thus I am able to cut down the total time my machine needs to be running. Dough is mixed in less than 10 minutes, but overall I hope that I am extending the total life of the machine. The dough always comes out in a ball shape and does not require further kneading by hand, as long as the flour and water are in the right proportions.
We have not opened the cover to see if the 2010 parts are made of metal, but based on most recent reviews we believe they are. The machine is loud, so I recommend placing it on a counter-top instead of a table. Over all the machine does what it promises and we are very happy with our purchase.

Dark Pewter KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer

I bought this mixer as a refurbished unit from one of the other online vendors. Let me let you in on a background here:

I've owned and used KitchenAid stand mixers for more than 20 years now. I've used the Artisan and Classic line of mixers, both antique and modern. They have always impressed me greatly. In fact my mother has owned hers for close to 30 years and she has never had a service issue with it.

I bought this mixer refurbished because I could get the "best" that KitchenAid has to offer for home kitchens for only a few dollars more than I could get the Artisan line, plus I want to get more into baking pies, cakes, cookies, brownies, and things like that. I figured that the larger bowl would help me to accomplish all of that.

The motor is powerful! I make large batches of bread dough in it and it never slows down. One reviewer complained that the motor gets hot and has a safety switch to shut it down if it gets too hot. That's a good thing, actually. It's a safety feature that will prevent a motor from burning itself up. To date I've never had an issue with the motor getting too hot or with the cover becoming uncomfortably warm, and that includes making bread dough.

Things to watch out for: The "soft start" feature that the mixer has can sometimes cause people to switch the mixer on, then off, thinking something is wrong. It's supposed to do that, and it provides the user with the ability to get hands away from the machine before it starts working, in addition to decreasing the likelihood that flour or other powdery ingredients get flung from the bowl. Be aware, also, that during the first few uses the motor might warm up more than normal and create a "hot metal" smell. Do not be alarmed, it's the new components breaking in and should fade within the first 5-10 uses of the machine. All of that being said, the best guidance that can be given concerning this device is to read the instruction manual thoroughly before use.

The only real complaint that I have about this model is the beater and dough hook that it came with. Both are NOT dishwasher safe. That does not bother me much, since I don't mind washing delicate items by hand. But also watch out for corrosion and oxidization. This tends to be an issue on these items. It shows up as white powdery deposits that, when scraped, reveal a darker pitting underneath on the metal surface of the beater. To the best of my knowledge it's not hazardous to use these as long as you clean them before you use them, but you also have the option of upgrading your beater and dough hook with a coated set. These ARE dishwasher safe, as well as being corrosion and oxidization resistant.

Complaint aside, this is the best mixer that I have ever used. I love the power of this mixer and am so glad that I spent the extra few dollars to get something that I will probably never use to its maximum ability.

Espresso KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer

I was all prepared to buy a 400-some watt motor KA at a warehouse club, but this one was on sale, and for about $20 more, I figured I'd go big or go home.

And I haven't been disappointed. I like to bake bread, but I lose interest in the kneading process. I'm baking bread weekly and it's just fabulous. Sure, I made some chocolate mousse and cookies along the way, but I am confident that since this mixer can turn out bread dough in a matter of minutes, it can handle anything.

As far as the capacity, I usually make half batches of bread dough (3c flour; 1c water) and I don't have any problems because the mixer is too big. I alsom make standard size batches, but I've never attempted to test the true flour power of the mixer with a 12c batch.

I have to admit, I had a problem with my mixer (getting stuck on 'warp speed') after particularly heavy batches. I don't post that to scare anyone, but rather illustrate that KA customer service is just fantastic. Within 2 business days, I had a brand new replacement at my doorstep, with instructions on how to return my current mixer. All postage paid.

I think a lot of people post reviews when something goes wrong. Well, KA this KA is all right.

Cobalt KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer

I have been using this mixer for over a year now. Its a great investment and well worth the price.

Pros: Good speed settings from high to low. Some mixers are too fast on low speed and too quick on high. This on one has many uniform steps in speed to mix anything you throw at it. The soft start function ensures you aren't painting your walls when you flip it on. It is a very well built machine that looks nice and has amazing power. We use a very stiff and heavy dough mix for our bread recipe and it churns out a 4 loaf batch with ease. I've never been concerned that it was overloaded or was going to overheat. I was originally going to purchase a Bosch mixer before I found this one and I'm very glad I didn't. Save your money and buy some of the great attachments that go with mixer instead. The pasta maker is way fun and works great!

Cons: 1)Sometimes it has problems picking up small batches like whipping two egg whites. I have to tip the mixer occasionally to get it to grab when the bowl isn't very full. 2)This is a heavy piece of equipment. Don't give it to your 80 year old grandmother and expect her to be lugging it from the counter to the pantry.

Over all I'd buy this machine over any other on the market if your a part time or full time cook. The well built quality and construction will last for many years. I'd also give it a 5 star rating and thoroghly recomend it to anyone looking to update their mixer.

Pearl Metallic KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer KP26M1XPM

Got it today, love it. Wasn't sure I was going to like the bowl lift, but I do. It will take a little getting used to, having had the other, but I think I'm going to like the lift and the stability it offers for mixing heavy things.

The mixer is powerful, it's got a great capacity, and it's beautiful (bought the Pearl Metallic). I'm just lookng for things to make in it tonight. Already mixed up lasagna filling, think I'll whip up a batch of cookies after dinner, maybe a cake, and tomorrow I'll make some bread.

I have always loved Kitchenaid. I can remember my mother had one when I was small, and she had the grinder attachment and used to grind beef. Buy this mixer before the end of May and you get a mail in rebate which is for a free ice cream maker attachment. (There was a guy looking at the mixers with us in the store and he said he loves his ice cream maker attachment. So we're looking forward to receiving it).

I have always had wonderful customer service from Kitchenaid. During a move he little knob on the lock handle of my Ultrapower broke off. I phoned them, and they just sent me a new one, free. Then I was storing it on a wire bakers' rack and lost a little rubber foot. I emailed them and within a week, a set of replacement feet arrived in my mailbox--free.

I also have their 10 speed hand mixer with dough hook, whisk, stirrer, and beater attachments, and I love that and bought a similar one for my daughter (who, at age 25, bought her own Kitchenaid stand mixer last month as a housewarming gift to herself).

If you're considering this product, you can't go wrong. It's an excellent mixer made by a reliable company that stands behind their products.

Raspberry Ice KitchenAid Artisan Design 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM155GBRI

This mixer is very well constructed and operates easily. Bought several accessories which hook up easily. Accessories are not cheep thought. Be warned, product is not light. Would recommend getting a hide away shelf to assist lifting from under counter.
I ummed and ahhed about whether to get this colour, but it has just arrived and it is really lovely. I haven't tested the mixer yet but the colour is more beautifaul than in the pictures. I was expecting a racy hot pink, this is a slightly more sophisticated colour and raspberry is a good description of it, the pearlised shimmer is very subtle, it's not a sparkly finish like I thought it would be, I really like it. I saw one person (who had not seen the mixer) suggest that only a 13 year girl would go for this shade, that comment almost put me off but I am glad I ordered it anyway. If you love pink and want an alternative to the very pale pink that is widely available, this is a great option. The glass bowl is very heavy but comes with a handle, you may need to order an additional metal bowl if lifting heavy things are an issue for you.

White KitchenAid K45SS Classic 250-Watt 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer K45SSWH

I received a white one for an early christmas gift and just used it for the first time on he christmas cookies that are a tradition in my family. In the past years, I've used my mother's old stand-mixer, and I've also used a hand mixer, which is near impossible to do with this recipe. This year, I used my new mixer and I am blown away! These cookies, that usually take forever, were done in no time! And even though I didn't think the 4 1/2 quart bowl would be big enough for the whole recipe, I had no problem and room to spare! It's surprisingly deep. It also stayed relatively cool through the three batches of cookies I made (I'm used to beginning to smell smoke from my mothers!)
I only used the flat beater yesterday, but have some bread recpies that I'm dying to use the dough hook on.
Just a few concerns...The dough sticks to the side of the bowl, so I did have to stop from time to time and scrape it off, but that was nothing that I wasn't used to. And you cannot attach a larger bowl to this mixer...the only other bowl you can attach is one of the same size with a handle.
And definately invest in a splash guard. You only get lemon extract in your eyes once to make that decision.

Pink KitchenAid Komen Foundation Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer KSM150PSPK

I got my Kitchenaid Stand Mixer for Christmas 2006. I had been wanting the Pink one. So my husband bought it for me online after searching and searching for the Pink color. We found out it was not a color normally carried in the stores.

When I first got to use mine, I made a nice chocolate frosting from the cookbook that is included with the mixer. Since then I have tried making a Red Velvet Cake from scratch and a few store bought mixes. Store bought mixes are probably not the best thing to use the stand mixer for and are probably best used with a hand mixer. But so far it works nice even if the switches are somewhat stiff. Maybe they will losen up in time.

Overall...I am satified and it is a Beautiful focal point of my kitchen.

Pistachio KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM150PSPT

The Kitchen Aid Mixer was a gift for our daughter for Christmas. We had a hard time trying to find the color(Pistachio). My husband had ordered one from another site and at the last minute we were told it wouldn't be available until after Christmas. Fortunately, I received an email from Amazon on that same day offering the availability of this same exact mixer. We had it just in time for Christmas. She loves the mixer. She has been making ice cream with the new ice cream attachment and she has been doing lots of baking.

Having a kitchen aid is like having an assistant in the kitchen! you literally just dump the ingredients in and it does all the work. It's even been great for helping out with big batches of tamales. I love the "Pistachio" color - it matches my retro Jadite stuff.

Majestic Yellow KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM150PSMY

I had been searching and researching these mixers for a couple of months and had hoped to get one for Christmas from the family. But when it came up on my gold box specials, I couldn't resist and bought it myself. Keep checking amazon daily, with my new amazon visa and the deal they offered that day along with free shipping, it was an unbelievable.

Now for the artisan mixer, I received it a couple of days ago and have had wonderful things come from it. I love the tilt head and think the professional ones are way to big for your regular non-pro cook. The artisan fits and looks great under my counter. The cookies have a beautiful texture to them and the mixer mixes them with no problem, quieter than I imagined it could be (family can still hear the TV without turning the volume up). Also my mashed potatoes were heavenly, only had to use 1/2 cup of milk in them, they are so light and fluffy, not heavy or sticky.
My son laughed when he saw I bought the majestic yellow. He knew I always wanted a yellow corvette car. He said, "looks like you settled for a yellow mixer mom". To me, this is the corvette of mixers! Thanks Amazon and Kitchenaid for the great product. Looking to forward to lots of fun cooking and baking in the future. (majestic yellow)

Imperial Gray KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM150PSGR

I received the KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Mixer in Imperial Gray as a gift and it is everything I hoped. I used the mixer to bake hundreds of cupcakes, filling, and buttercream frosting for a wedding and it was always consistent and never failed me over 20+ hours of prep work.

One thing I wish was standard with the mixer was the paddle attachment that has the scraper end on it, rather than the regular paddle that comes in the box. I love that the scraper gets literally everything in the bowl to mix evenly, whereas the regular paddle attachment leaves your mixture on the edges of the bowl and you have to scrape it down manually. For $30 more, the KitchenAid Flex Edge Beater Fits 4.5 Quart and 5 Quart Tilt Head Mixers is really worth it to allow your mixer to perform perfectly on its own. I was lucky enough to receive the attachment as part of the gift, so have always used it with the mixer, which probably accounts for my bias...

In my opinion, if you're going to spend this much on a mixer, buy a KitchenAid. People love them for a reason, so it's worth the money to buy the most reliable everyday mixer on the market.

Empire Red KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer KSM150PSER

Let me count the ways:

1. The price was awesome...I don't know why the white, black, and empire red mixers run $100 less than their rainbow-colored kin, but if you are more interested in performance than matching the color on your tea cozies, this is the way to go.

2. These are the real deal - I've heard about these mixers for so long, coveted one for almost that long, watched countless shows that used them, grew tired of reading paranthetical directions for those of us "mixing by hand" *gasp* in recipes - and all that anticipation might lead to a little let-down in the end. Not so...these things really are great.

3. Bread is baking - I've been inspired to bake bread at home, and freed from much of the labor of doing so....the mixing, kneading time is now hands-free, meaning that baking labor amounts to the fun stuff like forming a loaf and eating the finished product. The mixer is awesome for bread - it excels at single loaf recipes, but can handle a double loaf too, though not as confidently.

4. Hands free is the way to go - it's really the benefit of this mixer over your hand mixers, the ability to walk away while it does it's thing. Pumpkin pie...mix and pour. Cookie dough...mix and scoop. Egg whites...whip to a frenzy, souffle away.

If you like to cook, this will be a great addition to your kitchen...you may feel an embarrassing affection for your new toy, a desire to name it, pamper it, etc....but it's your kitchen, your love for your mixer will be your little secret.

Contour Silver KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers

Let me start off by saying, I have lusted after this appliance for years. My Christmas Spirit was almost doused by the fleeting thought of keeping the Classic version that I bought for my mother on Black Friday years ago. No - I gave it to her and continued to covet.

For years, I relentlessly mixed cookie dough by hand, taking the occasional break when my arms got tired. I carefully kneaded bread doughs with flour-covered fists. I loaded heavy cream into my food processor to make whipped creams for desserts. Life was hard, lonely, and definitely missing something.

I'd drop hints while resting after a good long cookie baking session. I would wipe my brow and comment forlornly, "My life would be better if I had an Empire Red Kitchen Aid stand mixer." People accused me of being dramatic, but I knew that I was right.

Then on my birthday last February, my life was complete. I received a Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer, in Empire Red. The heavens sang out, and the stand mixer-shaped hole in my heart was filled in and spackled over.

I began to bake. Cookies, rugelach, bread, whipped cream. I went even further, using the flat beater to evenly combine ingredients into my meatloaf mixture. I went insane with power, whisking ricotta, eggs, salt, and garlic to be used in a delightfully dense lasagna.

And after each session, I'd loving wipe my 5-quart beauty to a shine, and slide her lovingly against the wall on my counter, where she continues to regally hold court over all of the other appliances.

Kudos, Kitchen Aid. This stand mixer is glorious.

Aqua Sky KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixer

I did a lot of research on different brand name mixers. After comparing, I decided on the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer. Once I settled on the model, I had to make sure I got the right color. When I was ready to purchase, the Martha Stewart Blue Collection wasn't available. I was pretty bummed out and ALMOST bought the mixer in Ice. Luckily, Macy's had the Martha Stewart restocked so I snagged one right away. The color is lovely. Glad I got it!

The mixer is great - sturdy, mixes with ease. My hands are free to work on other things! I've had my mixer for about 3 months now and have used it frequently. No problems to report. No matter your color of choice, I recommend the Artisan mixer.

Moroccan Red Hamilton Beach Electrics All-Metal Stand Mixer 63222

Every since Whirlpool took over Kitchen Aid the quality has gone way down with regard to Kitchen Aid mixers. I bought my first Kitchen Aid mixer a couple weeks ago, came home, turned it on and sparks flew out of it, and a few seconds later, a fuse blew. I took the mixer back to the store and got another mixer only this time the second speed didn't work. I then took the second mixer back but this time asked for a refund.
I finally found the Hamilton Beach mixer on line, and I couldn't believe the price for an orbiting, metal, stand mixer with a three year no questions asked warranty (Kitchen Aid only offers a one year warranty), so I bought it. The mixer arrived the other day, and I have been baking like a maniac every since. My first test was cherry, pecan scones, and the mixer didn't hesitate once while pushing through the thick, heavy dough. My second test - chocolate chip cookies with walnuts. This machine didn't bat an eye (eyes not included) forging through a double batch. Also, it's relatively quiet compared to Kitchen Aid - you can hear the quality in the motor. I can't even begin to say how much I enjoy this mixer.

Licorice Hamilton Beach Electrics All-Metal Stand Mixer 63227

I purchased this mixer four days before Thanksgiving 2009, since my old mixer (a combo hand/stand that I had gotten for free) died the previous year during the holiday season. It was then I determined that I would be buying a true stand mixer.

I researched many different models, and focused primarily on the CuisineArt and KitchenAid Artisan models. However, after logging onto Amazon.com and reading about the features of the Hamilton Beach Eclectrics Stand Mixer in comparison to the others, and after reading some of the negative reviews on the later KitchenAid Artisan mixers, I added it as a possibility, especially since I knew I would never use the various attachments that came with the other brands. After a bit more research, I decided I would purchase the Hamilton Beach, in Licorice (Black).

I signed up for a free month of Amazon Prime, and my mixer was delivered two days later just in time for my holiday baking. I could not have been more pleased with the order and delivery process through Amazon! The mixer looked like it was very sturdy and constructed quite well. I was also impressed with the ceramic coating of the cake beater and dough hook, which made them easy to clean.

For Thanksgiving I used the mixer to make a cheesecake, numerous pies, and a batch of homemade dinner rolls. It handled everything easily, although the rolls did appear to test the boundaries of the mixer's capabilities. For Christmas I was able to quickly mix a batch of sugar cookies and throw a number of cakes together without any trouble.

I will say that I need to scrape the sides once in a while, but I also figured out how to slightly unlock the bowl while mixing and cause the beater/whisk/dough hook to scrape the sides if needed. I also like that the shield gives me the ability to add ingredients while mixing.

So far, I am very pleased with the purchase, especially with how easy it is to clean up after using. The mixer also looks very nice sitting on our dark granite counters! I expect many more years of fun baking with my new stand mixer.

Sugar White Hamilton Beach Electrics All-Metal Stand Mixer 63221

I purchased this unit just over a month ago. It arrived in less than a week. I've had no problems with it yet. It is truly all metal except for the splash guard/ingredient chute. To address some other reviews that had me concerned. The head doesn't slap around. That is a warranty issue for her. It does walk with big stiff dough recipes such as a two loaf all wheat. Simple physics, considering size and weight, tells you at medium to high speeds it will. Kinda lets you know it is a powerful electronic speed controlled mixer. I can easily steady the base for the few seconds to finish mixing. All other mixing jobs are done with ease. I, personally, like the tilt head. All stand mixers will require side scraping with some recipes, even the expensive KitchenAids. Although I made a five bar cheesecake yesterday and as I was watching the eggs, dropped in at the side one at a time, they were all fully captured and mixed in. I usually scrape once at the beginning and it spins into a dough ball at the end anyway. There is a dimple at the bottom of the bowl to help pick up added flour during the mix. Speaking of KitchenAid, have you read the reviews of those "attachments"? Besides being expensive they say all of them suck. It seems you can buy better and cheaper items to do the same thing taking up the same amount of space.

So far I've made 4 loaves of baguettes, 4 loaves of wheat, 2 loaves of sourdough, numerous cakes, batches of cookies, and of course a large cheesecake since I've had it with no problems. (Now you can see why I needed a strong stand mixer! My church loves me now too!) The key is to read the instructions more than once to ensure you understand how to operate this model. It has some cool recipes in there too! And yes, it is very easy to clean as well.

If you want a mixer to crank out mega-loaves of all wheat bread daily, (commercial), then this is not it. If you want to make great bread, dishes and pastries for your family then this can't be beat at this price range with this much power. After all, as one consumer already stated, this is a "Consumer Reports best buy". I've had a Sunbeam Heritage, (like the one shown on the Cookin In Brooklyn show), and contrary to popular belief there is NOT a motor under the bottom pedestal. It's great for everything else but gluttonous bread dough's. A white loaf every once in a while, maybe. But, I wanted to be more artisan and organic with my breads so I upgraded.

Brushed Chrome Cuisinart 5-1/2-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer SM-55BC

I bought this to replace a 5 qt. KitchenAid Artisan. I do a little cake decorating and I needed something that would handle large batches of buttercream icing a couple times per week, as well as general kitchen use. It was a toss up between this one and the KitchenAid Pro. I was a little nervous about spending so much money on something that doesn't have the solid reputation that KitchenAid mixers have, but I'm so glad I took the chance! This is a wonderful mixer!! In my opinion, it is far superior to the KitchenAids in almost every way. I would recommend this to anyone.
Pros:
It handles large and small quantities equally well.
The more powerful motor is wonderful! It handles lots of heavy dough and icing with ease.
The splash guard forms a tight seal. Not air tight, but when I make huge batches of buttercream icing (using 5# of powdered sugar) it keeps in all the powdered sugar dust and I don't have quite so much to clean up afterward. In fact, I have very little to clean up!
If you start on a high speed it gets faster gradually so that you don't end up splashing what is in the bowl all over you.
The timer turns the mixer off automatically when time's up. No more over mixing!!
The paddle, whisk and dough hook are dishwasher safe.
I can't say anything about the attachments as I don't have any yet, but I love that I can add a blender or chopper to it without having to by the whole small appliance.
Cons:
It is mostly plastic and therefore much lighter than the KitchenAid. I haven't found this to be a problem at all with it walking of wobbling like I thought I would. But, the plastic body makes it look kind of cheap.
It is louder than my KitchenAid was.

Overall, the cons are very minimal. I've not found them to be enough of a bother to skew my opinion of the mixer. I absolutely LOVE this mixer and I will never go back to KitchenAid!

White Cuisinart 5-1/2-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer SM-55

I was originally looking at KitchenAid stand mixers (I needed to replace a 20+ year old mixer that I had - a Sunbeam Mixmaster) and then I saw the Cuisinart SM-55. It had more power and just as many features as the KitchenAid mixers did and it cost considerably less (I had bought the SM-55 in white and saved an additional $50).

As soon as it arrived I couldn't wait to run it through its paces!

I couldn't be more thrilled with my purchase. I look at it on the counter in the kitchen (it slides right under the cabinet overhang) and am just very pleased with my purchase decision.

Buy this mixer (if you don't care about it being chrome, opt for the white and save another $50), you won't be disappointed!

Cuisinart 5-1/2-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer

This stand mixer features a powerful 800-watt motor that can handle the heaviest mixing tasks. Its large, 5-1/2-quart, stainless-steel bowl accommodates big batches--even double recipes. The unit also provides 12 mixing speeds, along with a 15-minute countdown timer and automatic shutoff, for maximum precision. Choose the slow-start function to eliminate splatter or the ultra-gentle fold function to carefully blend in delicate ingredients. The mixer's tilt-back head allows for easy access to the mixing bowl and makes attaching accessories simple.
Accessories include a chef's whisk, a flat mixing paddle, and a dough hook, as well as a splashguard. The whisk aerates ingredients to increase volume or can also be used on slow speed to gently combine dry ingredients. Contoured to reach the bottom and sides of the bowl, the flat mixing paddle ensures thorough mixing. The dough hook makes hand kneading obsolete, while the splashguard offers an extra-wide pouring spout for easily adding ingredients. The stand mixer also contains three power outlets, including a high-speed outlet for its optional dedicated attachments (meat grinder, citrus juicer, blender, food processor, or pasta maker--all sold separately). The stand mixer measures 15-1/2 by 10 by 12-1/2 inches and carries a three-year product warranty and a five-year motor warranty.

From the Manufacturer
More than 30 years ago Cuisinart changed the way the world cooked. Now it's changing the way the world mixes with the Cuisinart stand mixer. The new extra-large Cuisinart 5-quart mixer has the power, capacity, and precision to handle any job a recipe requires and delivers more power to mix even the heaviest dough. There’s also more capacity to double and triple recipes. The mixer comes with three accessories, allowing you to mix, whip, or even knead dough. It has 12 speeds to ensure splatter-free starts and fabulous finishes. In addition, Cuisinart offers optional attachments that can be purchased separately. Each attachment connects to one of the three power outlets on the mixer (two on the top and one on the front) to let you blend, process food, squeeze juice from your favorite citrus fruits, make homemade pasta, or grind your own meats.

Multiple Outlets Mean More Functionality

  1. High-speed power outlet for the blender and food processor attachment (sold separately), which connects to the rear power outlet on top of the stand mixer.
  2. Mid-speed power outlet for the citrus juicer attachment (sold separately), which connects to the front power outlet on the top of the stand mixer.
  3. Slow-speed power outlet for the large meat grinder and the pasta-maker attachments (sold separately), which connect to the power outlet behind the slow-speed outlet cover on the front of the stand mixer head.

An Array of Helpful Features
The mixer's tilt-back head securely locks the stand mixer into a raised position, which allows easy access to the 5-quart mixing bowl and makes it easy to attach accessories. The stainless-steel bowl includes handles, which makes the bowl easy to hold, scrape, and remove, and it's oversized to let you mix larger quantities. The mixer has a handy 15-minute countdown timer, plus a slow-start function that eliminates splatter for the most delicate ingredients. The fold function allows you to mix in ingredients at the lowest speed with two options--continuous, to blend ingredients, and pulse, to combine ingredients. Each pulse generates 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 revolutions of the flat mixing paddle, chef's whisk, or dough hook. The flat mixing paddle, dough hook, or chef's whisk spins independently while rotating around the mixing bowl for the quickest, most thorough results. No need to rotate the mixing bowl--Cuisinart’s stand mixer does all the work for you.
